Oscars pays homage to Om Puri!

Om Puri

The 89th Academy Awards is being held in Los Angeles. The prestigious award show is been attended by luminaries who have graced the world of celluloid. Millions have watched the show on television. The show had a segment called “In Memoriam” which remembers the contribution of those who are not present in blood and flesh but through their work. In short, it honours the contribution of film personalities who have passed away recently.

The part of paying tribute to actors who the movie world lost recently was introduced by Jennifer Aniston. She spoke about Hollywood celebrities and broke into tears when speaking about Bill Paxton, who passed away on Saturday, 25th February 2017. The homage was paid by screening a montage and it was very touching to see Om Puri in it.

That gesture was enough to show that Hollywood considered Om Puri as one among them. They still remember and lauded the actor’s performance in “Ghost and the Darkness” that was released in 1996. Om Puri was mentioned in the montage in tandem with Carrie Fisher, Michael Cimino, Garry Marshal, Mary Tyler Moore, and others.

Saif Ali Khan reacts on reports of sex determination of their unborn child

saif-kareena

By now we all know that Kareena Kapoor Kahn is pregnant. There was also news a month ago about the couple getting sex determination test done to know the sex of the child. The gossip mills also churned that Kareena will be delivering a baby boy, who will be named Saifeena by the parents. It also declared that Kareena has already given birth to her child.

As the rumours about the sex determination test, Kareena pregnant with a baby boy, and her already delivering the child were not settling down, Saif Ali Khan eventually decided to stop the gossip mills from churning. In a statement given to a leading tabloid, he said, “To quell all the rumours, I want to let everyone know that we have not yet had our child and we still don’t know the sex of the child. We will not be having our child in London and the name of the child will definitely not be called Saifeena,”

Further, clarifying about the on-going rumours, the couple’s spokesperson said, “The report is completely baseless and the couple strongly denies any such incident. There was no such discussion with any doctor in London and the report is purely a figment of someone’s imagination,”

Karan Johar: Won’t work with Pakistani actors anymore, but the ban is unfair

The Uri attack in which 17 of Indian soldiers attained martyrdom has sparked a series of flak against the neighbouring country for providing support to the dastardly act. While the reaction of the people is a good sign of solidarity with the jawans, there are some who think otherwise. For instance, the banning of Pakistani actors as well as the movies they have played a part in, has generated a mixed response in the Bollywood industry. However, the most affected from this ongoing controversy is Karan Johar as his movie “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” which was all set to release during this Diwali Festival, is facing stiff opposition from MNS. He was also labelled ‘anti-national’ by political parties.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has opposed the release of the movie soon after the ‘Uri’ incident. They also gave an ultimatum to the Pakistani actors to leave Indian within 48 hours, which was duly followed. Though many actors and directors from Bollywood termed prohibiting the release of “ADHM” unjustified, Karan Johar, the director and co-producer, remained silent. But he broke his silence this Tuesday and released a video in which he is seen and heard stating that he is not an anti-national and have high regards for the sentiments of the people. He also said that he will not engage any talent from the neighboring country anymore.

Further, he also pleaded those against the release of the movie to understand the sweat, blood, and hard work put by his 300 crew members behind making the movie, and said banning the movie would be unfair for them. He also added that nothing else matters for him other than his country and believed that the best way to express patriotism was through spreading love as he always did through his work.

Explaining further, he said that when he started the film last year, both India and Pakistani governments were attempting to build a peaceful relationship between them. But now the situation is quite different and he is going through the same sentiments as others.

Welcome Ganpati Bappa with these songs!

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most-awaited festivals of all. The ten-day festival bring people from all caste and religion together. There is a vast ocean of unity seen among the people during these 10 days. There is devotion, hope, and fervour in the air. Bollywood too has tapped on the popularity of this festival and showed their reverence for Lord Ganesha with peppy and pulsating numbers. Let’s welcome our favorite Bappa with these five songs.

Deva Ho Deva Ganpati Deva (Hum Se Badhkar Kaun, 1981)

Even after over three-and-half decades, this classic number still packs the punch with its wording in reverence for Lord Ganesha along with drum beats and manjeera twangs. The song is so beautifully shot hat it will not bore you to watch it repeatedly.

Morya re (Don: The Chase Begins, 2006)

This is another energetic song that can make viewers take a dip in the sea of emotion. In fact, it is one of the numbers in which Shah Rukh Khan has danced to his heart. The beauty of this track is that you can play it even for welcoming as well as bidding adieu to the Lord.

Deva Shree Ganesh (Agneepath, 2012)

This is a pure devotional number that evokes reverence and makes us listen to it repeatedly. Barring a few clips of killings in the song, which was apt for the script, it is perfect to pay our homage to Lord Ganesh. The one-minute aarti chants at the end of the song will throw you in a trance where you will experience devotion flowing through our veins.

Sadda Dil Vi Tu (ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, 2013)

This highly intense number in dedication to Lord Ganesh by the young generation. It is a part of the final dance competition in the movie with a blend of modern and traditional moves to suit the song. But the icing on the cake is the forming of Lord Ganesh by the all the artists on the stage at the end of the song.

Gajanana (Bajirao Mastani, 2015)

A beautiful song in the form of aarti for welcoming Lord at home. It is picturized on Ranveer Singh, who is shown performing the aarti with a huge thali in his hand. Listening to this song will fill you with emotions and veneration.

Housefull 3 cast rocks The Kapil Sharma Show

The Kapil Sharma show has started with a decent note with Shah Rukh Khan as the first guest. It has caught the fancy of people and is garnering impressive TRP.  With its TRP scaling slowly, it has become an ideal platform for filmmakers to promote their films.

In a recent episode of the show, the entire cast of “Housefull 3” had the audience split their sides with laughter. The stage literally became an arena of crazy gags. The three leading actors of the movie made a grand entry into the show recreating the popular song ‘Yeh Dosit Hum Nahin Todenge’ on a bike from the iconic movie, “Sholay.” Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bacchan, Chunkey Pandey, and Jackie Shroff enjoyed every single moment on the show.

Not only on the show, there were reports that all the actors had a great fun when shooting for the show. Akshay also showed a glimpse of his character from the movie in which he is playing a person affected with multiple personality disorder. He asked a person from the audience to come on the stage and while holding his hand, took off his wrist watch without the latter knowing it. Such was the fun on the stage that he shared his experience on Twitter in this way: “#Housefull3 gang on the sets of #TheKapilSharmaShow today! Always a fun time with this bunch of loonies.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan indirectly supports Salman Khan over Rio Olympics issue

Aishwarya_Rai

The sports and Bollywood fraternity have plunged into the ongoing debate about Salman Khan’s appointment as a brand ambassador of the Indian team for Rio Olympics. While there is no dearth of support from the film industry for the actor in his new role, the sports fraternity is not pleased and questions the decisions. There have been a series of comments from both the sides on how correct and wrong the decision taken by the Indian Olympic Association is.

Kirron Kher and Sooraj Barjatya are happy for Salman and also challenge the notions of people who believe that only a sportsman should become a brand ambassador for such a mega sporting event. They feel any eminent personality who have the power to influence youth can fit the role and not only a sportsman who has represented the country.

When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was asked about her thought on the Rio Olympic debate in which Salman is involved, she said, Anybody who is doing good to represent the country and anybody who is working or seeking or standing out for whatever vocation we have in the country, be it sports, arts or music, I think that’s wonderful and needs to be recognized.”

Though she didn’t take Salman’s name directly, but her support for her ex-boyfriend is a really touching.

Akshay Kumar donates 50 lacs to drought-hit villages of Maharashtra

Akshay

Few actors carry their on-screen image to practical lives. When issues like pollution, corruption, and natural calamities crop up, these actors don’t hesitate to speak up their minds and do their bit.  Akshay Kumar is one of those actors who keeps contributing to the betterment of the society in one way or the other. He has shown his generosity by donating a staggering amount of 90 lacs to the family of 180 deceased farmers.

Continuing with his benevolence act, this time, the actor has donated 50 lacs towards the initiative of the Maharashtra State Government. His contribution comes in the wake of the drought situation that has plagued many districts of Maharashtra State.
