Abhijeet Sawant was born in Mumbai; Maharashtra. He is the first winner of Sony Entertainment TV's Indian Idol show in 2005. Now he is a superstar of India. He was selected from 400,000 registered contestants and eleven finalists.
He won Rs.1 crore with Honda City luxury car and one week's holiday with the family in Switzerland. He firstly made the history by winning first Indian Idol and again making the history with his albums. Most of the albums are composed by Amit Trivedi, Jatin Sharma and Biddu. His first album "Aapaka Abhijeet Sawant" has also very popular. The "Mohobbatein Lootaunga" song from that film becomes very popular.
On the final episode he sang his famous song "Mohobbatein Lutaungaa". Abhijeet's first album was released on 7 April 2005. The album includes songs of Abhijeet, Amit Saana and Prajaktaa Shukre. Abhijeet was support many more shows and Sony related products in the next months. He released an album for a different Sony show "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin" in June 2005. He was acted in CID (another serial on Sony) and another song related programs.
After winning Indian Idol Contest, his first performance was the "Yaron Concert" held in a Delhi. This concert was broadcast on TV on July17 2005. He has been traveling India and abroad when he was doing the shows. Abhijeet's mother said that she is dreaming that her son become star overnight. From the childhood he was interested in watching Antakshari and other songs related programs. She is very happy that now Abhijeet is India's star. She has proud that she is known as Abhijeet's mother.
Abhijeet Sawant has sung 2 songs for the Bollywood. The first song sang under the guidance of Himesh Reshamiya. He sang second song named "Dil Mein Samaa Gayee Hain" with the Sanjeev Darshan.
Abhijeet launched his first album "Aapaka Abhijeet Sawant" in 7 April 2005 and next day 70,000 copies of that album were sold in a single day. Then he started to sing for Bollywood. He also examined Air Hostess Academy Talent Search. Then he started his stage performances. On 13 December 2007 he was participated in Asian Idol and he was back with his second album Joonun. The song from "Ashiq Banaaya Aapane" was became hit sang by Abhijeet Sawant. The song from this film is "Mar Jaava Mit Jaava".
