Delhi based 19 years old Akriti Kakkar is a winner of 1999's Children Special TVS Sa Re Gama National Talent Hunt. At the age of 18 she released her first remix album named A-TEEN. She was 18 years old when the album was launched, so it was named A-TEEN (18). The album was all about fun and Masti. The album had a hit track 'Jal Bin Machhli'. She also appeared in the videos of the album which become popular. Akriti becomes a teen pop sensation in India with this song.

Akriti began her career by singing in pop albums 'Punjabi Pop Dhamaka 2000', 'Ek Sapna' and 'Baby Doll Chapter 2'. A song 'Rangeela Re Tere Rang Mein' from 'Baby Doll Chapter 2' went on to become a chartbuster.

Akriti also has started playback singing. Her first film as playback singer was 'Dus' and the song she had sung in the film is 'Chham se vo aa jaye'. Music directors Vishal Shekhar had given music to the film. Akriti also has worked with other music directors like Anand Raj Anand, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and also with the leading music director Himesh Reshammiya. Akriti worked with Himesh Reshammiya for many films like - Chup Chup Ke, Good Boy Bad Boy, Namaste London, My name is Anthony Gonzalves, Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Rocky, Red, Millenge Millenge and Apne.

From the age 5, she started performing on stage. Since then she had done hundreds of stage shows. Akriti begin performing on stage with SAARC audiovisual exchange programme at Delhi. Then after she became the part of Kalyanji-Anandji's troupe "Little Wonders" which is later called as "Little Stars". Along with this troupe she had done two world tours and around fifty shows. She was also a part of Sangam Kala Group from Delhi. Akriti won numerous national level talent competitions which were organized by Sangam Kala Group.

Akriti fall in love with music since her childhood. She began learning Indian classical music at the age of 5. Her first guru (teacher) was her mother. Her mother also has earned post-graduate degree in Hindustani Classical music. Later she learned music from the late Shri Byomkesh Banerjee. Akriti was very good in her academics. She has earned 87 percents in her Twelfth (Class XII). Despite that she chooses singing as her career. Akriti attended Springdales School in New Delhi.

Akriti has hosted various shows like Nautanki Top 9, SMS show my song 7575. She has also hosted the premiers of some films. Within the time span of last two years, Akriti had done 200 shows. Akriti also has become a veejaay and sang for the top music channel ETC. She has also included in an international project by Matter and Sa Re Ga Ma HMV: a film titled Barbie & the Magic of Pegasus. For the film she sang a song 'Hope has wings'. She also featured in the video of the track.

Along with playback singing Akriti next planning to launch her first original solo album. Music for the album will be composed by Bollywood's three leading music composers Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Jasbir Jassi and Shivamani. It will release in November next year and will be titled Ninteen. Akriti will become 19 years old when it will releases.

Also she will soon release a new album called 'Akriti Solitaire'. It will be composed by Guru Sharma. The interesting thing about this album is that the legendary singer Padmashree Ustad Sultan Khan Sahab is singing the main song 'Dhoonde Mann Banwra' of the album which has video also.
