Career & Early Life

During his early days, Amit used to get fascinated by the electrical musical instrument and as time passed, he was slowly attracted towards music and was mostly influenced by classical music. He started composing his own music at the age of 20.

During his college days, he joined a band called 'Om' which used to perform at local shows and also used to give live performances. The band 'Om' struck gold when Times Music recognized its talent at a show and offered to launch an album with the group.

As he started growing, film music came his way when singer Shilpa Rao suggested his name to the director of 'Dev D' Anurag Kashyap.

As Anurag Kashyap was making an unusual flick, he was also searching for a music composer who could compose differently and found Amit Trivedi

Coming to 'Dev D', the album has 18 different songs but Amit also composed a song called 'Baap of all genres' and even sang 5 songs besides writing the soundtrack for one of the track called 'Aankh Micholi'.

Due to his excellent tracks in 'Dev D', Amit Trivedi also got RD Barman Award and Filmfare Award too before the big one came in the form of 'National Film Award For Best Music Direction', the highest recognition for Indian composers.

Since Amit is a lyricist too, he wrote a song called 'Ektara' for 'Wake Up Sid' and the song became a hit and also earned the best song of the year award from Filmfare in 2009.
