Sons of legendary music director Chitragupt, Anand and milind are music composer duo of Indian Hindi film industry. Born in a musical family, music came to them from their father. Their father, Chitragupt was a renowned composer of 60s. They learnt the basic nuances of music and especially Western classical music from their father. Although being sons of legendary Chitragupta, they had to struggle in their early career. The duo struggled lot from 1982 to 1988. But they came to recognition with the film 'Qayaamat se Qayaamat Tak'. All the scores from the film became hit. The duo also won their first Filmfare Award as Best Music Director for 'Qayaamat se Qayaamat Tak'. Since then they never looked back and went on to give hit numbers in films like Beta, Dil, Rakshak, Suhag, Prem Qaidi, Baaghi, Coolie No. 1, Vansh, Kurban and many more.
During their early career, the duo assisted their father Chitragupta for eight years. Anand Milind got their first break with the film Ab Aayega Maza in 1984. However, they got their major break in 1988 with the film Qayaamat Se Qayaamat Tak. Songs from the film- 'Gajab Kaa Hai Din Dekho Jara', 'Paapa Kehte Hai', 'Akele Hain To Kya Ghum Hai', and 'Ae Mere Humsafar'- all created rage in the country. It was also a crucial film to actors Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla as it was their debut film.
After QSQT, the duo tasted the same success with the Salman Khan's first film Baaghi in 1990. In Baaghi, they gave hit numbers like 'Chaandani Raat Hai' and 'Kaisa Lagta Hai, Achchha Lagta Hai'. Followed by it they gave the hit numbers like 'Aaj Na Chhodenge Tujhe Dum Dama Dum', 'Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai', O Priya Priya, Hum Pyar Karne Waale and Humne Ghar Choda Hai in Madhuri Dixit, Amir Khan starrer film Dil (1992). Also they gave hit numbers 'Dhak-Dhak Karne Lagaa', 'Koyal Si Teri Boli' in Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor starrer film Beta (1992). The song 'Dhak Dhak Karne Laga' was became much popular, while it is also remembered as Madhuri Dixit's one of the hit dance numbers.
Anand Milind for some claimed that they copies tunes from South Indian films, mostly from Ilayaraja and A. R. Rahman's songs. But the duo proved it wrong and showed their originality. Their other hit films includes Anjaam, Suryavanshi, Adharm and David Dhavan's Hero No.1., Coolie No.1, Bol Raadha Bol and Raja Babu.
In their career of 25 years, they have worked on almost 225 films and the duo is still active in the industry. Anand Milind are also responsible for giving beautiful music for launching films of many biggest stars of today like Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla for Qayaamat Se Kayamat Tak, Karishma for Prem Qaidi and Salman Khan and Naghma for Baaghi.
In the duo, Milind excels in piano, while Anand excels in guitar.
