Atif Aslam is a Pakistani pop singer. He is widely recognized in south Asia and has crooned various hit numbers such as Aaadat, Tere Bin, Woh Lamhe, Kuch Iss Tarah, Bakhuda, Pehlil Nazar Me, Tera Hone Laga Hun, Tu Jaane Na, Tere Liye, O Mere Khuda, Meri Kahani and Jal Pari.

He is popularly known for his powerful vocal belting techniques. As a result, he was conferred Taghma-e-Imtiyaz by the government of Pakistan.

Early Life

Atif Aslam was born on 12th March, 1983 in Lahore. He went to PAF College where he completed his F.Sc (Pre-Engineering) in 2001. He represented his college in various cricket tourneys in various cities. He won his first ever singing competition in his college on Independence Day celebrations. He then went to University Of Central Punjab and pursued his Bachelors in Computer Sciences.

Music Career

Jal Days

He formed a band called Jal along with his friends and sang Aaadat which became an instant hit and was aired on different channels like City FM 89, FM 100, Mast FM 103, FM 105 etc. Even the video of the song was a swashbuckling chartbuster. The song gave Atif Aslam the much needed platform to start with a bang.

Solo Career

Atif Aslam had to leave Jal, the ban due to personal differences. He started giving various live performances in Karachi and other cities of Pakistan with his major concert being Al Hamra Hall, Mall Road, Lahore. His first international concert was in USA and Canada.

Bollywood

Atif has also sung many songs for bollywood as well. His most popular songs in bollywood are Pehli nazar me from ace, Tu jaane na from Ajab prem ki ghazab kahani, bakhuda from kismet connection and these songs have been well received by Indian and Pakistani audiences alike. He also recently sang some good songs from the flick Prince. These were o mere Khuda, tere liye, kaun hu main.

Along with the songs, he also performed background vocals for scenes in Prince. Though the movie tanked, the songs are still on the chartbuster list on many music channels.

He has many more bollywood projects lined up and the way he is going, he has got a rewarding career in film music.
