Bipasha Basu was born on 7th January 1979 in the Delhi. She is from Bengali family. She has two sisters one older, Bidisha and one younger, Vijayata. Her family then moved to Kolkatta. She was planned for taking education in medicine but accidentally she come in the acting and modeling field. Bipasha met to the famous model Mehr Jessia in 1996.

She was participated into Godrej Cinthol contest held in New York and wins that contest. After winning the contest, her modeling career was very successful. Bipasha did her first film named "Ajnabee" with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Bobby Deol. For this film she got first Filmfare Award for Female Debut.

After performing some films she gave hit film named "Raaz" released in 2002. This was thriller movie which directed by Vikram Bhatt. She got nomination for Filmfare Best Actress. But now days from 2002 she is dating with Bollywood star John Abraham. Bipasha is from Hindi family and John is Christian so their family opposed to their relation. But Bipasha said that she is not believed in the religion.
