She was not willing to select a corporate career line, so she stepped in playback singing in the bollywood industry. Now a days she is one of the well-known playback singer in the Bollywood. Gayatri had done graduation from IIM, the Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow.

Gayatri Iyer who is now also known as Ganjawala after she got married to the famous and the well-known playback singer Kunal Ganjiwala in the Bollywood. As she is found of live shows, she keeps on increasing her presence on the live musical shows in various cites of India.

Not only a popular playback singer but also she is a fantastic live performer. In 2003 at London, Switzerland and many other parts of Europe she has performed with the underground drum and bass band. The band is named as "Badmash and Shri".

Gayatri has sung for more than 300 advertisements of top brands like Sunsilk, Dr. Morepan, Wheel, Vatika, Fair N Lovely, Godrej, Pepsi, Colgate, Coke, Liril etc. She do not limited her focus to only playback singing but she also sung for Ja Re Ja the Desi Boyz hit remix, Choti Si Umar Mein by Saregama-HMV's.

Gayatri was nominated at Stardust Award for song 'Mohabbat Hai Mirchi' from film Chura Liya Hai Tumne. It was a veru popular track. Again at the Indiantelevision.Com Awards, she was nominated for the Zee TV's popular soap Lipstick - title track.
