Harshdeep Kaur is an Indian playback singer who rose to fame in Bollywood with 'Ik Onkar' from 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Katiya Karoon' from 'Rockstar'. Originally hailing from Delhi, Harshdeep started her career in 2003 with the song 'Sajna Main Haari' from 'Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai'.
She started singing from the age of six. She took her music lessons from Tejpal Singh and learnt Western Classical from the Delhi Music Theatre. She also did join the Delhi School of Music at the tender age of 12 to learn playing piano. Her father was a businessman who owned a musical instrument manufacturing company.
In 2008, she took part in NDTV Imagine's 'Junoon - Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka' and held the winning title of the reality show. Earlier she also did win the MTV Video Gaga Contest. She remains to be the only Indian girl to win two reality shows on Indian Television. Her avatar and look with a turban became so famous from the reality show 'Junoon - Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka', that she still maintains her look with a turban which has almost become a part of her identity now. She became popular because of her songs in the Sufi genre after the reality show.
She was a major part of the Dubai Music Week. She also performed at Southbank Centre in London. She performed at concerts with A. R. Rahman in the most notable 'Rahmanishq' tour.
She has sung a song for the Bengali movie 'Bangla Naache Bhangra' in 2013.
She also rendered the track 'Saaiyaan' for the serial 'Bani - Ishq Da Kalma' on Colors channel.
