Jatin-Latit is a musical duo, who had given beautiful music to Indian Hindi film industry since early 1990s. Jatin Padit popularly known as Jatin and Latit Pandit popularly known only with Latit are also real brothers. The duo was born into the family of Indian classical musicians. Their father Pandit Pratap Narayan was a famous classical singer. Also they are the nephews of great musical master Pandit Jasraj. Music came to them hereditably.
Both of them took their first lessons in music from father and later from Pt. Ramprasadji. Along with traditional classic music, they were also encouraged to learn western music as well. Jatin-Lalit also had learnt guitar, piano and various other instruments in their childhood.
Jatin-Lalit got their first break as music directors with the film 'Yaara Dildara' in 1992. But the film didn't give any notification to them, while they get recognized with the film 'Khiladi'. They gave hit numbers like 'Khudko Kya Samajhti Hai' and 'Vada Raha Sanam' with this film. Their different musical style was getting noticed since Khiladi. Followed by it they gave hit songs with 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)'. It was their first major hit. They gave hit songs like 'Pehla Nasha', 'Yahaan Ke Hum Sikandar', 'Roothkar Hamse Kabhi', and 'Are Yaaro Mere Pyaro' in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. A romantic song 'Pehla Nasha' is one of the gems of their creation. Followed by it they led music successfully for films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993).
In the last half of 90s, they were the most busy music directors in Bollywood. In 1995, they gave another musical hit with superstar Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. The film was super-hit and also all the songs from the film were hit. All the songs from the film like 'Ruk Ja O Dil Deewaani', 'Mere Khaabon Mein Jo Aaye', 'Na Jaane Mere Dil Ko', 'Mehendi Lagaake Rakhana', 'Jara Sa Jhoom Loon Main', and 'Ho Gaya Hai Tujhko Toh'- all of them became much popular in the country. All these songs shows youth flavor in their composition.
Their successful run continued with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Khamoshi-The Musical'. The film had complex composition like 'Bahon Ke Darmiyaan' and 'Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai Mere Dil Ki Sada'. However in 1997, they gave the hit numbers like 'Chaand Taare Tod Laau', 'Main Koyi Aisa Geet Gaau' with film Yes Boss. In 1998, they gave a series of musical hits like Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. In which Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was again major hit in their career.

The duo had hit songs in almost every film they have composed. However, the successful brother's jodi separated their ways after the film Fanaa (2006). Fanaa was their last film together. Now onwards they will compose music independently. They had not given the exact reason of their split, but they says that they had some personal problems which they do not want to expose.
Despite giving hit music in numbers of films, the duo never get appreciated by Government or the film industry. The duo has this regret that their work was not appreciated by any kind of award, neither any national or Government award or Bollywood's prestigious Filmfare Award. But the duo compliments themselves by saying that recognition from the audience is their big award. However they are the top music directors according to the on-line voters on the BBC Asian Network. Jatin-Lalit had unique style of music, consisting of harmony and melody fitted in modern musical arrangement.
Although being successful music composer, Jatin Lalit always kept themselves low profile. However their fans get chance to see their favorite composer, when the duo appeared as judges to the Zee TV's musical reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005'. Later they also judged Star Plus's musical show 'Star Voice of India'.
