Javed Ali is one of the most popular playback singers of the current era in Bollywood. He was born and brought up in the capital city of Delhi. His father Ustad Hamid Hussain was a qawwali singer. Right from his childhood days, Javed Ali, started singing with his father.
Javed took his musical training from the famous Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali. He changed his surname from Hussain to Ali and became Javed Ali from Javed Hussain, in order to pay tribute to his teacher Ghulam Ali.
Seeing Ghulam Ali and inspired by the genre of ghazal, Javed Ali initially wanted to become a ghazal singer only. However, it was Kalyanji-Anandji, who advised him to join playback singing.
He ventured into playback in the year of 2000. His first film as a playback singer was Beti No. 1. He went on to sing in many movies later which includes 'Chameli', 'Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na', 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Neal 'N' Nikki', 'Golmaal'.
He rose through the success ladder and attained fame in 2007 with the release of 'Jab We Met' and 'Naqaab'. The tracks 'Nagaada Nagaada' from 'Jab We Met' and 'Ek Din Teri Raahon Mein' from 'Naqaab' did wonders for him and gained him immense popularity.
In 2008, he gave back to back superhit chartbusters through 'Ghajini', 'Jodhaa Akbar' and 'Yuvraaj' followed by the success of 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani' and 'Tum Mile' in 2009. He sang a lot of jingles and also lent his voice to the title track of Star Plus' hit serial 'Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon' in 2011.
In 2012, he sang for musical blockbusters like 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'Raaz 3' and 'Ishaqzaade'. Even in the recent 2013, he rendered 'Tum Tak' from 'Raanjhanaa'.
