Juhi Chawla was born on 13th November 1967 in Ludhiyana, Punjab. Her father, Dr.Chawla was Punjabi and mother, Mona Chawla was Gujarati. Sanjeev Chawala is her younger brother. She completed her graduation from Sydenham College in Mumbai. She was "Miss India" of 1984. She participated in Miss Universe also and won Award for Best Costume in the year 1984.
After winning Award of Miss India, she moved towards films. She did her first movie named as "Sultanat" released in the year 1986. She also did Kannada film "Premaloka" which was much hit and she became star. Her first Bollywood hit film was "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" released in year 1988. In this film she performed opposite to Amir Khan.
Juhi's super hit film was "Darr" released in 1993 and performed with Sunny Deol and Shahrukh Khan. Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan were romantic couple on the box-office. Both of them performed many films together such as "Tum Mere Ho", "Love Love Love" and many more but were not hit on the box office. She performed many unremarkable films such as Shaandaar, CID, Sanam Bewaffa, Radha Ka Sangam and Goonj. She was labeled as hot after doing song on beach in the film "Lootere" directed by Dharmesh Darshan.
She gives series of hit films like Bol Raadha Bol, Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke and Raju Ban Gayaa Gentleman. Raju Ban Gayaa Gentleman was released in 1993 and she won Filmfare Award for this movie. She gave many hit films with Amir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Some of hit films with Amir Khan were Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and Ishq and the films with Shahrukh Khan were Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman released in 1992, Darr in year 1993 and Yes Boss released in the year 1997.
Juhi then moved towards production. She became partner of Production Company named as Dreamz Unlimited with Shahrukh Khan and Aziz Mirza. She produced two films under the Production Company such as "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" and "Asoka" but both were flopped on box office. "Chalate Chalate" was first hit film produced under this production company.
Her recent films were 3 Deewarein , 7½ Phere , My Brother Nikhil and Salaam - e - Ishq: A Tribute To Love directed by Nikhil Adavani. She performed with Urmila Matondkar in film "Bas Ek Pal" released in 2006 and in "Swami" with the actor Manoj Bajpai. Her upcoming films are "Bhootnath" with the actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan and "Krazy4" with Arshad Warsi and Irfan khan.
Juhi Chawla got married with Jay Mehta who is industrialist. Both have two children, one daughter named Jhanvi born on 21 February 2001 and son Arjun born on 21st July 2003.
