Father of Kumar Sanu was great composer. They trained him in singing and tabla playing. Sanu completed commerce degree from University of Calcutta. He had struggle for long time in bolywood. Jaan Sanu (his son) also in the singing field.

During the 1986-87 Jagjit Singh firstly gave the opportunity to Sanu for singing in the film Aandhiyaan. After that Kalyanji-Aanandaji offered chance for singing in Jaadugar film. Original name Kedaar Bhattachaarya was changed to Kumar Sanu because of Kalyanji-Aanandaji.

Sanu worked with number of music directors. He is in the focus because of Nadeem-Shravan. They gave chance to him in the film Aashiqui.

Kumar Sanu's actual career was started from the film Aashiqui. All the popular songs of Aashiqui are given by the Kumar Sanu. He got the Filmfare Award for number of songs. Songs became hits are from the films Humraaz, Kareeb, Dil Aashana Hai, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Paradesh, Deewana, Kaante, Ishq, 1942 A Love Story etc. Thousands of songs are recorded by Kumar Sanu.

After 1990 Sanu became very choosy about the songs. He also took part into acting in Bengali films and in the Hindi and Bengali T.V.Serials. He got the first FilmFare award for the songs in Aashiqui. After that he won for Sajan, Deewaana, Bazigar and 1942-A love story.

The favourite artists of Kumar Sanu are Kishor kumar, Lata Didi and Asha Bhosale. From the new artist Shaan and KayKay. He made record in Guinness book for recording Twenty-eight songs in a day.
