Padmini Kolhapure was born on 1 November 1965 in Maharashtra (India). She is from Konkani family. Her mother did job for Airlines and father was classical singer. Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale are cousins of her father and she was in chorus when they performed the songs.
Asha Bhosale suggested her name to the director and actor Dev Anand. Dev Anand gave chance to the Padmini in the film "Ishq Ishq Ishq" released in 1975. At this time she was only 10 years. Her films as a child artist were Dream girl in 1978, Zingagi, Sajan Bina Suhagan in 1978 and many more. Her famous child role was in the film "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" in which she played child role of actress Zeenat Aman.
She played role in film "Insaaf Ka Tarazu" in 1980 which was remake of film "Lipstick". For this film she won Filmfare Award for Supporting Actress. She started to perform as an actress at the age of seventeen. Her first film as an actress was "Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai" directed by Nasir Hussain and performed with Rishi Kapoor. This film flopped but her next film "Prem Rog" in 1982 was became hit and in this film her co-star was Rishi Kapoor.
Padmini's some hit films were "Vidhaata" released in 1982 and "Souten" in 1983 with the actor Rajesh Khanna and her super hit films was "Pyar Jhukta Nahin" in 1985 with the actor Mithun Chakraborty. Mithun Chakraborty and Padmini did many films together. She romantically attached with Tutu Sharma, producer of the Bollywood and they got married. Tutu Sharma cast her for the film "Aisa Pyar Kahan" and after that she fell in love with him. After the marriage she was retired from film industry. Both of them have one son, Priyank. She comes back in the film industry in 2004 with the Marathi film named "Manthan". Her latest released film was" Souten: The Other Woman" in 2006.
