Pooja Bhatt is very lucky because she is from film industry related family. She is born on 28 February 1972 in Mumbai. She is daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, popular film producer and director and mother, Kiran Bhatt, also step daughter of Soni Razdan. She has one brother, Sunny Bhatt. Her one cousin, Vikram Bhatt is a director and screen writer and another cousin, Emraan Hashmi is an actor.

She got married with VJ of the music channel, Channel V named Munish Makhija aka Udham Singh on 24th August 2003. He was her boy friend from long time. Now he has a restaurant and bar in the Goa.

Pooja performed in many films which were directed and produced by her father, Mahesh Bhatt. She made her first film named "Daddy" released in 1989. At this time she was seventeen years old and film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. In this film she played role of adolescent girl of the alcoholic father and role of father played by Anupam Kher. Her super hit films were "Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin" in 1991 opposite with the actor Aamir Khan. This film was remake of the Hollywood film "It Happened One Night". Pooja own first Filmfare Award for Best Debut for this film.Some of her well-known films were "Sadak" in1991, "Junoon" 1992, "Chaahat" in 1996, "Tamanna" in 1996 and the film "Zakhm" released in the film 1998.

She performed last film named "Everybody Says I'm Fine!" released in 2001. After this film she moved towards direction and production. She was directed first film named "Paap" in 2004 with the actors John Abraham and actress Udita Goswami. She also directed 2 more films "Holiday" in 2006 and "Dhokha" in 2007.
