She is widely known for her unique style of singing and that's what makes her stand out from others. Just like her husband, even she is also a very good musician.
Rekha Bhardwaj shot to fame with her crooning of the super hit number 'Namak Ishq Ka' from the movie 'Omkaara' which her husband Vishal Bhardwaj directed and had Ajay Dvgan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles.
Rekha Bhardwaj always had a liking for music and always wanted to be a singer. But she has her husky and not-so-melodious voice usually required for a bollywood singing career; and hence it used to discourage her to even try.
After she tied the knot with the director Vishal Bhardwaj, it was he who convinced her that she could sing and as a result she tried and rest as they say is history.
Professional Singing Career
After getting convinced that she could sing, she released her first album titled 'Ishqa Ishqa' which was appreciated critically. However, her big moment came when she crooned the famous song 'Namak Ishq Ka' written by Gulzar, composed by Vishal and filmed on Bipasha Basu. The song went on to become one of the blockbusters of 2007. Since then she has not looked back and her singing career is going by leaps and bounds.
Even her song from Delhi-6 'Sasural Genda Phool' was a thumping success.
She has been roped mainly by filmmakers who are filming item songs as her item songs has been great successes.
