Sajid-Wajid are well known musical duo in the Indian cinema today. The duo recently hit the charts with the title song of Akshay Kumar starrer film Welcome (2007). Also they created rage with their hit songs in Salman Khan starrer Partner (2007).
Sajid Wajid are also real brothers. They were born into a musical rich family. Their father Ustad Sharafat Khan is a talented tabla player, while his grandfather Ustad Abdul Latif was honored with Padma Shri by the Indian Government. Padma Shri is one of the highest civilian awards in India. Music came to Sajid Wajid hereditably.
Sajid-Wajid had learnt music from various music teachers including Ustad Allahrakha Khan and his brother Das Babu. Before turning into music direction, Sajid had tried his hand in import-export business. However he later get inspired by some of his friend and willed to take music as career. Before working independently as music director duo, Sajid-Wajid also had worked with their father Ustad Sharafat Khan on an album. But the album never gets released.
Sajid-Wajid started the concept of 28 Non-Stop Remix for T-Series. Later they also composed music for a non-film album 'Marhaba' along with Sabri brothers. They got their first break with Sohail Khan's Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. For the film they composed a song 'Teri Jawaani Badi Mast Mast Hai'. It was a hit qawwali. Followed by it, they scored music for Sonu Nigam's non-film album Deewaana, which was released by T-Series in 1999. They gave hit numbers with this album like 'Abb Mujhe Raat Din' and 'Iss Kadar Pyaar Hai'. It was Sonu Nigam's hit album, which immediately topped the charts.
In 1999, Sajid-Wajid gave them the chance as music director for a whole movie with the film Hello Brother. They gave many hit numbers in Hello Brother like 'Hata Saawan Ki Ghata', 'Chaandi Daal Par Sone Ka Mor', 'Chupake Koi Jab Aayega' and the title song 'Hello Brother'. Followed by it, their music for Baaghi (2000) also did well.
Their other well known films as composer includes Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai (2002), Gunaah (2002), Sharaarat (2002), Jawani Diwani (2006), The Killer (2006), Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar (2006) and Jaane Hoga Kya (2006). However, they also had lent music for many Salman Khan starrer films like Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge (2002), Tere Naam (2003), Chori Chori (2003), Garv (2004), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and Partner (2007). Their upcoming film is Hello in 2008. Strength of their music is melody.
