Sayeed Quadri is a noted lyricist in Bollywood who operates and writes from the city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan. He doesn't stay or visit Mumbai often but generally sends off the lyrics through phone to the composers or producers. He is a full time Life Insurance Agent working in Jodhpur. He holds the pen out of his hobby only to bring out lyrics that produced master pieces over the years.
Sayeed Quadri got his first opportunity to write for the movie 'Jism' in 2002. He got his first break through Mahesh Bhatt, who fulfilled his promise to Quadri after years of their first meeting.
Sayeed Quadri came to Mumbai during the 1980s looking for some work in Bollywood. He met Mahesh Bhatt during that time but things could not work out as Mahesh Bhatt was still not a big producer or director by that time. However, he still did write for Manju Mishra's 'Dhat Tere Ki' in 1983.
Luck smiled at Quadri when 'Jism' went on floors in 2002 and Mahesh Bhatt contacted him to pen down the lyrics for the songs of the movie. Can anyone avoid the fervor of 'Awarapan Banjaarapan' from 'Jism'? The sensual words merged up with unconventional tune, produced a memorable song that remains to be unforgettable even today.
Sayeed Quadri later went on to write for several hit movies like, 'Murder', 'Zeher', 'Kalyug', 'Gangster', 'Bhool Bhulaiya', 'Kismat Konnection', 'Tum Mile' and many more. Pritam, Mithoon, Anu Mailk are the frequent music directors with whom he worked.
He won the IIFA Award for Best Lyrics for the movie 'Murder' in 2005.
