Shahid Kapoor was born on 25 February 1981 in Mumbai. His father Pankaj Kapoor is a film actor as well as he performed on to Television and mother is a Neelima Azeem, who is an actress and classical dancer. Both of them divorced when Shahid was only three years old. Then he lived with his mother after the divorce. Supriya Pathak is a stepmother of Shahid Kapoor. He took the training of dancing from great dancer and choreographer Shiamak Daavar.
At the start of his career he was working in advertisements and videos. He performed with Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, background dancer with the actress Aishwarya Rai in film Taal released in 1999 and the song was Kahin Aag lage Lag Jaave.
His first film as a hero was "Ishq Vishk" released in the year 2003. In this film he performed opposite with the heroine Amrita Rao. He then performed two films in year 2004 such as "Fida" with co-star Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor and second film was "Dil Maange More" with Soha Ali Khan and the actress Ayesha Taakia. Both the films flopped on the box office.
The films Deewane Huye Pagal, Shikhar and Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi failed on block bluster. All these films were released on the year 2005. His first big hit film was "36 China Town" released in 2006 and co-stars are Kareena Kapoor and Akshaye Khanna. This film based on comic- suspenseful story. Next film released in the same year was "Chup Chup Ke" and got the fair success. His first commercially hit film was "Vivah" directed by Suraj Barjatya and him opposite with Amrita Singh.
In the year 2007, his first released film was "Fool n Final" directed by Ahmed Khan. During the same year his latest release and biggest hit film is "Jab We Met" and he performed with Kareena Kapoor. But Kareena and Shahid get separated after this film. He also got the award for this film.
