Sonali Bendre was born on 1st January 1975 in Karnataka. She completed her education in Bangalore and in Mumbai. In Mumbai she studied in the Kendriya Vidyalaya and Holy Cross High School, Thane.

Sonali started her career as model then she selected for "Star Dust Talent Search". She started her career in the Bollywood and did first film named "Aag" released in 1994 and performed opposite with the actor Govinda. At the starting her films were not becomes successful at the box office but some of her films becomes popular such as "Bhai" released in 1997, "Sarfarosh" in 1999, "Zakhm" in 1999, " Duplicate" in 1999, "Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United "in 1999, "Dil Hi Dil Mein" in 2000, "Tera Mera Saath Rahey" and the film "Anaahat" released in the year 2003. She worked with all the four Khans that are Amir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Salaman Khan.

She got Filmfare Lux New Face Award in the 1995. The film "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai" released in 2001 was hit on the box and she got Star Screen Award for the Best Supporting Actress. Sonali got married with film director and producer Goldie Behl on 12 November 2002. Both of them have son named Ranvir born on 9 August 2005. In the film "Kal Ho Na Ho" released in 2003, she played role of doctor of Shahrukh Khan in this film and other stars are Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan.
