Sridevi was born on 13th August 1963 in Sivakashi (Tamilnadu). She is daughter of Ayyapan and Rajeswari. She has brother Satish and a sister Srilatha. Her father and mother both are not alive. Her father was died when she was doing shooting of the film Lamhe and mother was died during shooting of film Judaai.

Sridevi did her first movie in Tamil language as a child artist. Film name was "Kandhan Karunai "which was released in 1967. She was acted in many Tamil, Malyalam and Telugu films. She did many films in Malyalum which was directed by the I. V. Sasi. She got her big break as a heroine in the film "Moondru Mudichu" which was directed by K. Balachander and film was released in 1976. She performed first movie with Rajanikant and Kamal Haasan.

With the Kamal Haasan she performed many films such as Guru, Sigappu Rojakkal, Sankarlal, Meendum Kokila, Thaayillamal Naanillai, Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu, Neela Malargal, 16 Vayathinile and Moondram Pirai. With the hero Rajnikanth also she performed many movies like Dharmayuddham, Pokkiri Raja, Priya, Thanikattu Raja, Adutha Nan Adimai Illai, and Varisu.

She did first Hindi movie "Solva Sawaan" in the 1978 but movie was not hit on box office. Her second film was "Himmatwala" and that was hit on box office and she became star in the Bollywood. Her performance in the film "Sadma" was very famous. She gives many hit films such as Mr. India with the actor Anil Kapoor, Chandni with Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna and Chaalbaaz with the actor Rajanikant. In the film Chaalbaaz she played double role and won Filmfare Award for the Best Actress. Her role in the film "Nagina" was also famous for his dance in that movie. Sridevi Filmography

In the film "Lamhe" released in 1991 and directed by Yash Chopra. She performed double role in this film which was much hit. She got Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this film. Some of her films were Khuda Gawah, Laadla and Gumrah. She won for the Filmfare Award for the film "Kshanam Kshanam" which was released in the 1992. Some of her films which were not successful were "Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja" and "Judaai". She performed TV serials also like "Malini Iyer", :Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai" and performed judge in serial "Kaboom".
