Talat Aziz is best known for his Ghazal singing in India. He is also best known for his acting in various TV serials like Noorjehan, Sailaab and Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee.
Talat Aziz born in 1956 in Hyderabad to father Abdul Azeem Khan and mother Sajida Abid. He was born in the family of music lovers. His family was used to arrange Mehfils (concerts) in their won house with great artists like Jagjit Singh. The environment influenced Talat and drawn him towards music.
As a child Talat wanted to be a cricketer but destiny pulled him towards singing and acting. Talat started singing since early age. Talat took initial training in music Kirana Gharana. As a childhood his inspiration was Ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan. Later Talat Aziz shared the same stage with the maestro during the concerts in India and abroad. Talat also has received some music lessons from Mehdi Hassan.
Talat's first major performance was at Hyderabad, where he performed the song 'Kaise Sukoon Paoon' and ghazals by noted shaayars of Hyderabad. He performed in front of the 5,000 people, where his soft voice was liked by the audience.
After completing his graduation Talat leaved Hyderabad for Mumbai. It was Jagjit Singh's suggestion which moved Talat to Mumbai in 1979. He took the classical training under the guidance of musical biggies Ustad Samaad Khan and Faiyaz Ahmed Khan. Talat released his first album named 'Jagjit Singh presents Talat Aziz (1979)' with the help of Jagjit Singh. The album was success. Talat later went on to release his albums, which were also equally successful. His albums includes Lehren, Irshaad, Manzil, Dhadkan, Saughaat, Ehsaas, Suroor, and Talat Aziz live.
Along with his solo albums, Talat also has sung in movies like Bazaar and Umrao Jaan. He has also acted in TV serials like Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee, Sahil, Manzil, Ghulam, Sailaab, and Noorjehan. Talat had composed music for serials like Noorjehan, Deewar, Adhikaar, Baaz, Sailaab, Ghutan, and Aashirwaad.
Talat Aziz also did a film 'Dhun' by Mahesh Bhatt in 1990. In the film he acted alongside actress Sangeeta Bijlani. But the film never released.
His popular songs includes 'Damadam mast Kalandar', 'Aaina Mujhse Meri', 'Aawargi Hamari', 'Fir Chhidi Raat Baat Fulon Ki', 'Zindagi Jab Bhi Teri Bazm Mein' and many more. He was the top artist for Music India recording company during 1979 to 1984, while he joined HMV in 1984.
