Viju Shah is one of the leading music directors of Indian Hindi cinema. He is son of veteran composer Kalyanji (of composer duo Kalyanji-Anandji). Viju Shah is popular for his racy numbers like 'Tirchi Topywaale' (Tridev), 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' (Mohra), and 'Gupt Gupt' (Gupt).

His early hit films include Mohra (1994), Tere Mere Sapne (1996) and Gupt (1997). Vijay Kalyanji Shah popularly known as Viju, took his first lessons in music from his father. There after he took training from other music masters like Pt. Chaturbhuj Rathod, Pt. Ramprasad Sharma and Pt. Satyanarayan Mishra.

In 1985, Gulshan Rai introduced his son Rajiv as director with the film Yudh. Rajiv and Viju were good friends, so Viju unofficially scored music for songs 'Kya Huwa Kya Nahi' and 'Danke Pe Chot Lagi Hai' in the film. Viju got his first break as music composer with the film Muqaddar Ka Badshah in 1990. None of the song from film made any impact. However he gave hit numbers in following film Vishwatma (1992). He gave the catchy number 'Saat Saandar Paar Main Tere' with this film.

Viju Shah Biography Later he mesmerized the audience with songs like 'Main Cheez Badi Hoon Mast Mast', 'Tip Tip Barsa Pani', 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast', 'Na Kajre Ki Dhaar', 'Subah Se Lekar Shaam Tak' from Mohra (1994). Viju Shah also had did background scoring for films like Chaalbaaz (1989), Ladai (1989), Zahreelay (1990), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1992), Yalgaar (1992) and Junoon (1992). He recently did background scoring for film Dil Ka Rishta (2003) and Shakalaka Boom Boom (2007).

His other well known movies as music director includes Aar Ya Paar (1997), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998), Bulandi (2000), Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001), Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003), Asambhav (2004), Yun Hota To Kya Hota (2006) and Victoria No. 203 (2007).

Viju Shah never considered any other profession than music. Today the man is sad with the current status of music industry. He says that today the music industry is much commercialized and wants to listen item numbers. However Viju loves to do soft numbers which are hardly being composed today. Viju Shah's upcoming films as music composer includes Zamaanat (2007) and 90 Minutes (2008).
